Communication And The Political Process of 2016: What Can We Learn About Effective Communication
The Presidential election campaign of 2016 is like an ongoing lab on human communication. As is probably the case with most elections that help us understand what effective communication consists of, and what destructive communication looks like.
This particular campaign, particularly the primary process for the Republicans is, while unpleasant for many, very instructive because the communication strategies are, indeed, bigger than life.
We can learn a lot about:
- how human communication functions
- different forms and types of communication
- what works, what doesn't
- how our leaders may foster better or worse communication practices in those that observe or follow them.
Our goal here is to be non-partisan, and to neither praise or chastise any particular politician. There is enough criticism to go around for pretty much each candidate.
