The planning and evaluation of workplace and employee performance are called a number of things - performance management, employee reviews, performance appraisals, but one thing is consistent. Neither managers or employees look forward to the process with pleasant anticipation. Much of that has to do with poor implementation of performance management systems, and a misunderstanding of what they are for, and how to use them so that everyone benefits.
